Ferry services resume after 22 hours

After nearly 22 hours of suspension, ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in Munshiganj, have resumed.

Assistant General Manager of ShimuliaPortof Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation’s (BIWTC)Nasir Muhammad Chowdhury said,"Six ferries have been operating sincethe early hours of Thursday,”

Inclement weather is increasing the suffering of homebound people taking the water route during Eid holidays.

"The long queue of vehicles will not reduce until ferry services are fully operational again,"Mawa traffic police In-Charge (TI) Helal Uddin said.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated across Bangladesh on August 12. Public holiday will be observed from August 11 to 13 for Eid.
