Water transport workers call off strike

The water transport workers have withdrawn their indefinite strike following a fruitful discussion with the government.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Water Transport Workers’ Federation Chowdhury Ashiqur Rahman announced the withdrawal of the strike around 11pm on Saturday.

The authorities had a marathon meeting with Director General of the Department of Labour AKM Mizanur Rahman, reports UNB.

Public Relations Officer of the Labour Ministry Akhterul Islam said representatives of the workers who attended the meeting held at the Directorate of Labour called off the strike following a fruitful discussion.
