Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Thursday announced new banking hours for the capital’s Motijheel-Dilkusha and Chittagong city’s Khatunganj-Agrabad areas to facilitate transactions of two major business hubs of the country.
The new banking time is from 10am to 2pm for these commercial areas, a BB notice says.
Bank branches of these areas will remain open from 10am to 3.30pm during the government-extended general holidays while the transaction could be made between 10am and 2pm only, the notice elaborates.
All the scheduled bank branches located in these areas must be kept open in every work days until further notice effective from Sunday, the notice of the BB says further.
On April 16, the BB fixed banking hour from 10:00am to 1pm during the general holidays declared by the government to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus.
During the general holidays, banks will provide services – deposit and withdrawal through cash or cheque, DD or Pay Order and Treasury Challan.
Banks will also ensure other transaction facilities under the payment system or clearing arrangement of the BB.
