The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun interrogating former director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Abul Kalam Azad for the second day over the Regent Hospital and Covid-19 certificate scam.
An ACC team, led by its Director Sheikh Md Fanafilla, began questioning him at its headquarters in Dhaka's Segunbagicha around 10am on Thursday, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Dhaka Tribune.
After completing his first day of interrogation on Wednesday, the former DG denied any involvement with the scam, saying he was honest in performing his duties in the capacity.
The ACC has already conducted a primary inquiry and interrogation of officials as part of its investigation into scams involving Regent Hospital, JKG Health Care and N-95 masks, said ACC sources.
Earlier in July, all DGHS officials in question denied their involvement in a statement and said they followed directions from the ministry.
