Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) on Thursday decided to reduce prices of all types of gold by up to Tk2,500 per bhori, with immediate effect.
The decision was taken as gold prices went down in the global market, said a statement of the association signed by its general secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala.
Now per bhori of 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk,74,008, down from Tk76,457 per bhori which was set on last September 17.
As per the new decision, each bhori of 21-carat gold will now cost Tk70,859, and 18-carat will be sold at Tk62,111 in the local market.
Usually the gold prices increase a day after Bajus issues a notification, but the new changes were announced with immediate effect.
Also, the price of gold acquired in the traditional method will be Tk51,788 per bhori.
The prices of 22-carat, 21-carat and 18-carat silver (cadmium) per bhori were fixed at Tk1,516, Tk1,434 and Tk1,225 respectively.
